Apple Content Marketing

Welcome dear readers,
Today's post will be a special, different type of post. I will be attempting some content marketing for Apple. Hope you enjoy!

Apple has been innovating a lot of their older electronics and making new innovations in the market. I would highly suggest that Apple should partner with Snapchat to launch a marketing campaign to increase brand share in the Youth segment. Apple can hold an event on Snapchat where users can send cool or interesting Snapchats.Young Adults which are the main users of Snapchat, this social media platform is highly trending currently and Apple can exploit this opportunity. One goal would be to get a million snapchats in the Apple event. This would greatly help increase market share in the Youth segment. Apple should launch this marketing campaign as soon as possible, to not let the opportunity slip away as social media platforms are changing very frequently. This event could easily be promoted on Twitter and Facebook, the 2 platforms Apple is already built on and already has tons of influence on. Also Youth are more likely to share content so this would help the event get much more exposure. This campaign will attract audiences because the segment that we would be marketing to is a high user of Snapchat, so by using their social media platform we will gain an edge. The event engages audience by encouraging them to Snapchat for the event. There could even be prizes associated with the event. Also, as in the past Apple tries to keep up with trends, most notable their partnership with Beats By Dre which was a popular trend amongst the Youth segment.

Blackberry Campaign

Blackberry Digital Marketing Campaign

I will be doing a campaign for Blackberry the reason is is because I think they need a good turn around to get back in the cellphone market. My idea is to focus strictly on compatibility. My audience will be mid range adults seeking a better phone option. My goals are to strictly get the idea out there and shared. I want to get a good amount of likes and feed back on whether or not the fans think it’s a good idea. I would like to launch the idea just before apple launches there new phone preferably before Christmas when people are in the mood to buy and now have a new option. We will promote the idea on twitter and facebook the reason being is because that’s where are target market is located. The campaign will attract the audience because we will be showing them how compatible our phone features are with the leading competitors and how you can get apps on our phone to sync with your friends and other devices.

HTC Content Marketing

I will be creating a campaign for HTC. My idea is to create a new way for phones to be properly integrated into consoles (gaming). My audience is mostly for young adults and late teenagers. Males in the 18-29 are my primary demographic. My goal is to simply test the waters for my idea, i am looking for likes on my Facebook page, as well as re tweets on my content idea. As for the time range for the idea launch, I would like to have it around June. The reason for this is because there is amajor expo about electronics in June and it is a good launch time for my idea. For social media that will be used, twitter, facebook, youtube, Google+, LinkedIn are all social media that I would use. The way that this campaign will attract people will be sponsoring certain brands that target my audience. This inludes restaurants, local sports teams, food and beverage providers and many others.

Apple vs Nokia on Youtube

YouTube is a unique mode of social media, it is vast; with so much content uploaded daily that it is a miracle how YouTube manages to keep all their content regulated and indexed. On such a massive platform it would really take something to make a mark. Apple and Nokia have tried doing exactly that and today we will assess their efforts.
The frequency for both of the brands to post new videos/commercials is quite random, without a visible pattern as some months had no videos posted while other times a week had multiple vidoes. This suggests the brands use a certain hot/cold method by pushing out a few videos in a short span then letting things cool down for a while then repeating the cycle. Also another explanation is the cost and effort, and time it takes to plan, direct, produce, edit and publish a video especially for brands who have to maintain a brand image while attempting to make an impact.
For Nokia, most of their videos consist of descriptions of their new product OZO, which is a virtual reality camera. This is good because Nokia is keeping up with the new hype of holograms and VR with their new technology. They also have some demos and their most recent video is about Nokia’s brand image and their vision. Their descriptions include links to their website and a brief summary of the video.
The most successful video for Nokia has been “Our Vision” which is successful mainly because it is a generic video about Nokia as a brand, as opposed to other videos specifying on certain products or issues.

For Apple, all of their videos in the past few months have all been about their products. They have a few vidoes for iPhone 6s, Apple TV, iPad Pro, and the Apple Watch. All of these videos would classify as commercials, and their descriptions link to the product on the Apple website. The most successful video for Apple in the recent few months has been a commercial about Apple TV. It has been so successful because there has been a lot of hype over the newly innovated Apple TV which has tons of new feature and it truly revolutionizes the TV experience.

Blackberry vs LG Youtube

Blackberry vs LG Youtube
Blackberry on youtube does not do a very good job t keeping their site up to date. The last post they did was a whole month ago. The good thing that blackberry does do is post videos on how to use the phone, The have different how to videos that will make navigating the phone much easier. This is a huge benefit because many people do not know how to use their phones and this is a very easily accessible way to find out how to use it.

LG does a much better job at keeping their posts up to date. They are posting around once a week which is good but could be better. Lg posts videos on new products trying to sell the benefits and features of their product in a video. This is a good way for customers to view their products as well as see the benefits.

Although Lg posts much more regularly I believe that Blackberry has the better youtube channel making it easy for users to navigate and be able to use their product without the complications of going into a store to figure out how to use it.

HTC VS Huawei YouTube

HTC currently has 374k subscribers on their youtube channel. They rarely have any videos posted to their channel, only haveing 2 in the last 2 months. They type of posts they usually make are commercials for their products. These include product introductions and advertisements. In the description for their products, they usually only include the description, not having many links, only on certain videos, they also dont have any keywords for people to search for.
The following video has almost 10 times as many views than any other video listed in the channel in the past 4 months

The reason that this video is the most successful  is because it is a brand new advertisement fro a highly anticipated product.

Huawei has a tiny YouTube channel only having 4k subscribers. While they may not have a large following, they are active in their channel, uploading 7 videos in the past 2 weeks. The type of content they make news and promotional material. In the description area, they post a small description, as well as a link to a webpage to view more about the topic at hand.

The most popular video has almost 700 more views, and 100 more likes than any recent video on the channel

The reason that this type of content is popular is because it is a new product and many people are interested in the product.

Apple vs Nokia on Google+

Apple has approximately 455,000 members on their Google+ community page. Their new content is posted randomly as it is a community where members and employees can contribute posts as seen below. A community member and employee (their position is displayed under their name) posted about the beta release of OS X 10.11.14 El Capitan Beta 7.

Nokia has over 175,000 followers on their Google+ page. A main difference we can see is that google has a company page while Apple has a community page. This could be justified because as we saw in an earlier post, Nokia often uses community feedback on posts and replies, this is as good as a community page as they still make the readers feel valued. Google shares all of their youtube videos on their Google+ page as well.

These are two interesting posts from Nokia that I chose to discuss. Nokia is using these posts to reinforce their partnership with Microsoft among its audiences. This is good because if their audiences do not approve of Microsoft they could be losing market share, and some loyal brand followers. All in all Microsoft is a great opportunity for Nokia as they are making their comeback into smartphones.

Blackberry vsLG Google+

Blackberry vs LG Google+
Both of these company’s use the same pictures from twitter on google+ therefore it is basically the same as the twitter review. Blackberry does an excellent job with their picture choices and is definitely better than LG but LG uses a much better variety of Photos and Videos. Both company’s use hashtags and have links to their websites and other social media platforms but because they have more videos and a better variety I think LG wins this one.

HTC VS Huawei on Google+

Huawei currently has 8k followers on Google +. Most of their content is actually much different than what they usually post. Usually they post things such as promotions, but on Google + most of their content is industry related news. They even have posts about other companies, including one from Sony. Posts from Google + are rare, usually only having around 3 posts a week. Small descriptions are given in the post, and a link to their main website is included at the end.  An example of their successful post is included.
An example of Huawei's different post's on Google +. This is also very successful having a lot of interactions with 17 comments
The video was successful because it allows people who are not familiar with any of the industry news to have more knowledge.

HTC currently has 340k followers on Google+. Their content that they post on Google + is exactly the same as all of their other social media, which is mostly promotion content. As far as the frequency of the post is concerned, it is similar to all of their other content, being posted once a day. There is no discernible such as specific keywords or links to other forms of media. An example of a successful post is anchored here.
The post above has around 100 more interactions than any other posts. HTC continues to post promotional news.

The post is successful because promotional material such as this allows for new consumers to find products beneficial for them.

Apple vs Nokia on Twitter

Apple tweets more than they post on Facebook tweeting around 4-8 times a day with Apple Music again in the lead of frequency of tweets. The most effective social media platform for Apple would be Twitter. This is because Twitter allows them to tweet frequently about all their industries as Apple is in multiple industries and it also allows them to reach the right audience as the generation Apple is targeting is more focused on Twitter. The content Apple posts is mostly industry related and about their products. Apple seems to post to build interest in their followers for new products or just keep them engaged.
An example of a successful Apple tweet:

Similar to their Facebook post, this is successful because it is straight forward providing a playlist for current Apple Music members and advertisement for non-Apple Music users.

Nokia posts about 1-2 times a day on Twitter which is more frequent that their Facebook posts however, still very low compared to Apple’s Twitter post frequency. On Twitter Nokia posts updates on their company and how their progress is going on upcoming technology. On Twitter Nokia also uses videos and images and they re-tweet fan tweets related to the industry or Nokia. All of their content is either about them, the industry or other content to engage audiences and generate interest.
Here is an example of a successful Twitter post from Nokia:

This twitter post is really short and sweet; it gets the message across without too much bulk or baggage. It is a great example of Nokia’s Twitter marketing efforts as it shows how Nokia makes their content to provide updates on their progress and updates on the industry.

In conclusion, both Apple and Nokia use Twitter for separate purposes so we can’t really decide which is better. We can sum it up to the facts that Apple is much more active and frequent on Twitter while Nokia is less active, less frequent, but makes really good posts.

Blackberry vs LG Twitter

Blackberry Vs Lg Twitter
Blackberry does an excellent job at posting tweets very regularly, multiple times a day. Many of these posts are very eye catching tweets and get the attention of the reader. They show product benefits as well as new priducts.
They like to hashtag their company name as well as the products they are selling to try and get the names trending for people to see. They do a good job at this because there is a hashtag in almost all of their tweets.
Lg also does a pretty good job at keeping their twitter up to date. They do not post as much as blackberry but do post daily. They mostly post pictures of their product in use or product features like how they have different colored phones.

They tend to use Hashtags in almost all of their posts but to me don’t seem to do as good of a job as blackberry. Blackberry’s eye catching photos and updated posts seem to be better on twitter.

HTC VS Huawei on Twitter

Twitter is considered by many to be one of, if not, the best social media platform to market your products to consumers. HTC and Huawei both use twitter effectively to get more clicks and have more people talk about the products. HTC is not very active on twitter, only posting a tweet once a day, sometimes not even posting anything on somedays. Huawei on the other hand are more active on twitter, occasionally posting twice a day, and never missing any days. Looking at the types of tweets that are sent out, they are similar if not exactly the same as the ones that are posted on Facebook. The tweets are usually promotional and photos and videos around the product. As stated before, the two brands don’t fully use the 50/50 rule, usually only promoting their products.

The most successful post on Huawei's twitter is this post that is promotion for their smartphone. It has over 15 more retweets than the next most successful post.
This is the most successful tweet from HTC, having twice as many likes compared to any other tweet

As you can see, the most successful post from each brand is related to a promotion to their products.

Samsung Vs Sony on Twitter

Twitter is a great social media tool to use to communicate with a target audience efficiently, as it is all seen in real time with many active users.

Sony uses twitter a couple to few times a day and mainly use it for the purpose of promoting their products. In addition to promotional purposes they also tweet about their unique features of their devices and also they included tweets about their sponsors. For ex. Nick Jonas- a famous and well known singer. They have an app called “Xperia lounge” in which you can listen to nicks new songs, and Sony mobile wanted to let the fans know it is an xperia exclusive.  Sonys most successful tweets as of recently was their tweet promoting their new camera on the Z5, pictures looked sharp and vivid, which is why I received great feedback. 72 retweets and 208 likes, which is a great amount for their size.

Samsung’s Twitter handle is all about them, it’s a great source for all new galaxy products. Their primary focus is clearly to get the audience attention and generate awareness of new products, such as the brand new #GalaxyS7 & #S7Edge! In addition to their new smartphone they are also promoting other devices such as their galaxy gear which is their wearable tech. One of Samsung’s most successful tweets was when they unveiled the new galaxy s7, it received 15k retweets, and 28k likes. It is a great new step for Samsung and many people were looking forward to it.

Apple vs Nokia on Facebook

On Facebook Apple posts about 1-3 times a day with Apple Music having the highest frequency. They mostly post for major events in the respective industry and for new innovations to their products. Apple rarely applies the 50/50 rule for their last 25 posts, however, this is understandable as Apple has its own culture.
Here is a successful Facebook post by Apple:

This post was successful because it is straight to the point and just directing Apple Music users to a hot new playlist, while advertising to non Apple Music users about how interactive Apple is with Apple Music.

On Facebook, Nokia posts about every day to every three days while on Twitter they post 1-2 times a day. On Facebook Nokia posts their company, products, experiences, and fans. Nokia also uses Facebook to interact with their audience by using videos and images they can relate to and they actually reply to comments on their posts. Nokia applies the 50/50 rule more often than Apple.
Here is a successful Facebook post by Nokia:

As we can see, Nokia uses media to let their fans know how they performed at the iF design award night 2016. Also we can see the interactions Nokia makes with its fans that leave a comment on their posts. This is very personal 1 on 1 marketing that would be effective for Nokia’s marketing efforts as it plans to make a comeback into the electronics industry.

In conclusion, Nokia seems to trump Apple in their digital marketing efforts on Facebook by being much more interactive and applying the 50/50 rule more often.

Samsung Content Marketing

  • I am creating this for Samsung and their new Galaxy S7 phone

  • My idea is to create a twitter campaign for Samsung. By generating awareness of the brand in a positive way. For a few years there has been a campaign for bell called “Bell Lets Talk” also on twitter. The idea behind it is to create awareness for mental illness and their own company. This created positive publicity for Bell. Each time a twitter user used the hashtag #BellLetsTalk, they donated 5 cents. Although it doesn’t sound like a lot, it adds up. Even the PM, famous celebrities began using the hashtag for a good cause. So if Samsung can create a Hashtag and promote it for a good cause, this will shed positive lighting onto them and help them in time for their launch of the new S7.

  • The audience for this campaign will be the primary Twitter users: which is both Males and Females, that are active social media users within the ages 15-45

  • Our goal is to achieve more followers, and to generate thousands of dollars, all in all we want this to be successful to help the community as well as generate a good image for Samsung

  • We are planning on launching this even around the holiday time just in time for the busy season and to generate good publicity. As well as it is a time to give back, so we will want to give back to the community in a positive way and help

  • Our Social strategy is to promote this on twitter as it is the social web site the created the hashtag. In addition, we will want to promote this on Facebook to obtain a larger audience. Users will simply to tweet/update a status with a hashtag.

  • This will attract users because it will be for a good cause and it will hopefully turn into a trend for the given time period. It is engaging because it is simple and everyone will do it as a collective

Sony Fan Pages

Xperia Blog- http://www.xperiablog.net/comparison/ : This web page is very similar to Samsung’s fan page “Sam mobile’’ in the sense that it includes constant updates and news, direct firmware updates from phones, galleries, and forums. The gallery is also a unique touch as it shows picture of each model organized by year.  Also, Xperia blog offers another unique addition which compares all of the previous phone models and new models from specs to size, to features and much more. This is definitely a major site that I would recommend to any loyal xperia fan that is interested in all things Sony mobile, it offers a variety of information which is all simply organized

Sony Xperia Dev- @SonyXperiaDev   Hub for tutorials, tools and the latest tech info related to Android in general, and Xperia smartphones in particular. This twitter handle primarily focuses on news and events related to the Sony Xperia across the world. So for those users that are interested in specifically the latest news and want it a.s.a.p. Especially in the twitter world as It is the main news that you want to receive, in other words only brief information

Sony Fan Page- https://www.facebook.com/Sony-Fanpage-330248433672806/: This Facebook page is great for Sony fans and users across the world that are interested in all things Sony. Not only does it include information about the xperia line of smartphones, in addition it includes information on Sony tablets too. This is a great fan page for users interested in Sony tablets too and want more information on it all in one place.
